As we seated ourselves in the shallow boats, the guides balanced the load for stability.
The boats are waiting. Each boat made from one single hollowed tree and
powered by a Yamaha Enduro 48 outboard motor.
The river meanders crazily. The magnificent tepuis in the backdrop, thick
amazon forests that flank the river, dark coca-cola colored water, the spray from the speeding boat and occasional
patches of pink rocks.
A section of the river upstream is a bit too choppy. We walk a short
distance to rejoin the boats. The rain stopped as suddenly as it had started.
We stop at a small island to fix a sputtering motor. Notice the color
of the water, that comes from the minerals and the vegetation.
